Look at the examples below and see if you can explain the unconscious bias involved in each example (they are not all related to race).

Example	What is the unconscious bias?
Mrs Peters asks Johnny to help move some tables and ignores Jenny when she offers to help	Johnny is stronger because he is a boy. The bias is that Johnny will be better at moving tables because he is a boy.
The police stop 3 teenage boys wearing hoodies. One of the teenagers is black, they put him in the back of the police car and talk to the two white teenagers by the side of the road.
Joanna is 60 and has 40 years’ experience. Her work friend Aliyah is 20 and has 2 years’ experience. Their boss asks them to design a website together, but Aliyah is in charge.
