Do

For the last part of this module, we want you to think about a person for whom you are grateful. This can be someone who is often there for you, like a family member, friend, or carer. Or it can be someone who has recently done something for you that you genuinely appreciate.

Now grab your phone, or a piece of paper, and write them a message of thanks. It doesn’t need to be overly-soppy. It doesn’t need to be a huge big essay. Just make it honest, genuine, and focused on gratitude.

From here you have a couple of options. Firstly, you could delete/bin it. Research has shown that simply writing out a message about why you are grateful for someone or something is enough to improve your mood and shift your mindset into one of kindness.

However, if you’d like to take it a stage further, you can send the message or read it to them. Doing this means that you’re not just positively impacting yourself, but also the person that you’re grateful for. It might sound awkward, but we can guarantee that they’ll love receiving such a nice message, regardless of whether they show it or not.
