Do

It’s all well and good having a think about what you’re grateful for. But at TOK we are firm believers in the power of writing things down – it just makes things more real. So now it’s time to write down some stuff that you’re grateful for. If you have to use a notes app on your phone then that’s fine, but we prefer to carry out this task with the distraction-free, mind-clearing tools favoured by many generations before us: pen & paper.

Have a think about the things that you are grateful for and, importantly, why you are grateful for them. These can be big things that play a regular part in your life, or just small things that happened today.

If you’re only wanting to do this task as a one off, that’s fine – but write down at least five different items on your list.

Alternatively, you have the option to make this the start of your very own gratitude diary. If you go for this option then aim for 3 things on your list, but then try to do it every single day. We find that just before bed works best, it’s nice to spend the last 5-10 minutes before sleep reflecting on your day (and your life in general) before writing down the things that you are thankful for.

Whichever option you go for, thank you for doing it!
