What our speaker says…
“Negativity spreads quickly, but kindness has a ripple effect too. Small actions can create powerful change. This session invites people to think about the behaviours that shape the cultures we work in and the difference we can make.”
Gavin Oattes
Synopsis…
“Don’t Be a D**k” is fast becoming a surprisingly powerful mantra for organisations around the world.
At its heart, the idea is simple: treat people well, act with integrity and choose kindness, even when it’s difficult. In busy workplaces, where pressure, deadlines and competing priorities are common, it can be easy for empathy and connection to slip down the agenda.
In this energising and thought-provoking smallTOK, Gavin explores how everyday behaviours shape the cultures we work in. Through humour, storytelling and shared reflection, participants are invited to consider the role each person plays in creating a more respectful, supportive and positive environment.
Delegates are challenged to reflect on what truly matters to them and the people they work with before creating their own “Don’t Be a Dk” manifesto**, a simple but powerful commitment to the behaviours and values they want to see more of in their teams and organisations.
Sometimes meaningful culture change starts with the simplest of ideas.
Delegates will:
- Reflect on what respectful and positive behaviour looks like within their team or organisation
- Explore how everyday actions influence culture, trust and collaboration
- Create a simple “Don’t Be a Dk” manifesto** for their team or workplace
- Identify practical actions that bring their manifesto to life
- Strengthen a sense of community, accountability and togetherness
