“If you are not in the arena getting your ass kicked on occasion, I am not interested in or open to your feedback. There are a million cheap seats in the world today filled with people who will never be brave with their own lives, but will spend every ounce of energy they have hurling advice and judgement at those of us trying to dare greatly. Their only contributions are criticism, cynicism, and fear-mongering. If you’re criticizing from a place where you’re not also putting yourself on the line, I’m not interested in your feedback.”
A fantastic human by the name of Dr. Brene’ Brown.
Dr. Brene’ Brown is an American professor, lecturer, author, and podcast host that focuses on vulnerability and equality. Taking a healthy risk is definitely being vulnerable and the criticism we might face from others won’t be all that important in the end. Most people who judge are those who don’t take healthy risks themselves.
So what exactly is stopping us from growing and finding more out about ourselves? Every person deserves the chance to take a risk, fail, succeed, and ultimately grow. It’s within our power to do so.
