First things first, in groups have a discussion about a time you trusted your gut feel OR a time you wish you had! What was happening and was your gut feel helpful or not?

Next up, the Silent War!

The battle of ‘Good Bacteria’ vs ‘Bad Bacteria’ is a daily occurrence in our digestive systems. In groups, or independently, your challenge is to create a representation of what’s called, the ‘Silent War’.

Use all sorts of images to represent this ‘war’. Create a cartoon, a poster, or a short PowerPoint to show how this battle in your gut can be played out. 

The battleground is of course your intestines, so be sure to include this in your creation!

Have a think about how to strengthen each team, or how to weaken it. You might want to do some extra research to find out what food choices will give your team of good bacteria an advantage? 

Explore and discuss what sort of advantages it will give them? Equally – what promotes growth of the ‘bad’ bacteria? Show how the strengthening of one of the sides results in changes in feelings and behaviours. 

Food is your weapon and the Bacteria your soldiers.
