Let’s flip this around now and instead of thinking of something that makes your heart race – let’s instead think of the OPPOSITE! Let’s think about places we go to that no matter what is happening, ALWAYS bring us feelings of being safe, warm, loved, peaceful….. We call this your safe space!
Maybe for you it’s lying on a warm beach on a warm day just like Cassie. Or perhaps it’s sitting next to a tall tree – leaning your back up against it and staring up into the beautiful leaves with the speckles of sun peeking through. Or what about in your bed – maybe you just love the feeling of snuggling in your sheets – feeling the softness of your pillow holding your head gently. It can even be a place you got to visit on holiday – and when you think of it, that’s the time you felt the most happy, peaceful and safe? Like snuggled up in a fluffy banket on a sofa in front of a crackling fire – outside the rain is pattering on the windows and you love that sound and smile as you bury yourself in your beautiful toasty heaven… where is your safe space?
Describe your safe space. You can choose any way to do this… maybe go through old magazines and find pictures that remind you of your safe space? Or draw a picture and use lots of colour and detail. Or maybe you want to use words – any words that come to mind about your safe space – write them down. Make sure you think of all the senses are you discover your safe space – what can you hear? Feel? Taste? Smell? See?
