Do

If continuing to build confidence is the goal, then we want to start taking action right now.

For this activity, we want you to imagine your perfect recipe for communication, new opportunities, paying-compliments, and getting comfortable with the uncomfortable.

  1. Whether it is virtually or in person, try to create a small group with three different peers for a fun conversation that should leave you all smiling.
  1. Introduce yourselves to your small group if you don’t already know each other.
  1. It will now be your job to give three sincere, genuine compliments to each peer in your small group. The challenge is to pay these sincere compliments by using each person’s name,  use eye contact when communicating, and that the person receiving the compliment can only say “Thank You.” The compliments can be of any kind, but we want to encourage you to try and go deeper than just compliments on their clothes and outside appearance. Have you noticed they are kind or funny or smart or positive? Are they athletic or graceful or fantastic with music? Try to find compliments that show you have noticed the details of that individual.  Be confident and do your best to be sincere and polite.
  1. Be sure every person in the small group has had a chance to pay three compliments to each group member and that every person has responded with a sincere “Thank You.”
  1. Congrats on taking a small step towards building more confidence. Communicating clearly and honestly in a potentially uncomfortable setting is a great way to practice confidence. You literally just helped build upon your own confidence while others’ in your small group did as well. Way to get comfortable with the uncomfortable!
  1. Now we would like you to turn those compliments inward towards yourself.  With your small group, we want you to practice having the confidence to tell the group one thing you love about yourself. It is so easy to think of our individual flaws that we all have, but the truly confident are willing to know they have much to love about themselves as well.
  1. Be sure every small group member shares something they love about themselves.  It might be difficult for some, so be sure to support them…that’s what confident people do!
  1. Congrats on completing this growth session on confidence building. If you are feeling confident and corny enough, we want to challenge you to personally congratulate each small group member before you all move on to the next video.
