Kindness in Action
You’ve already created an Empathy Map for a pupil starting secondary school.
Now, imagine this situation.
It’s lunchtime in the first few days of Secondary School and the pupil you drew does not know many people yet and is not sure where to sit, or who to talk to.
Look back at your Empathy Map and use it to guide your thinking.
In your pairs or groups, discuss:
- How might this pupil be feeling at that moment?
- What might they be thinking or worrying about?
- Based on that, what would be one kind and helpful action that you could do to make lunchtime feel easier for the pupil you drew?
Your action should be small, realistic and kind.
If time allows, your teacher may ask you to share:
- How you think the pupil might be feeling
- The kind action you chose
This activity is about seeing how empathy helps you decide how to respond with kindness in everyday secondary school situations.
