Kindness in Action
Let’s practice using our empathy and kindness superpowers in some real secondary school situations:
For this activity you will work in small groups.
To begin with you’ll receive a scenario, selected by the teacher from the list below, describing a situation a student might face in secondary school.
In your groups, take a moment to think about the situation and try to understand how the student in the scenario might be feeling.Â
Scenarios could include:Â
- A student struggling to open their lockerÂ
- Someone sitting alone at lunchÂ
- A classmate who’s lost and can’t find their next classÂ
- A student who’s forgotten their PE kitÂ
Once you have discussed the situation, try to then come up with a kind action that could help in this situation.Â
Finally, create a short scene, in which you act out the scenario and your kind action for the class.Â
After each role-play, discuss as a class:Â
– How did the group show empathy?Â
– Was their kind action helpful? Why or why not?Â
– Can you think of any other kind actions for this scenario?Â
