Welcoming Someone New

Now it is your turn to think about what belonging could look like.

In groups of three or four, create a short scene where a new pupil joins the school for the first time.

One person will play the new pupil. The others will show how they can help that person feel welcome and included.

Think about:

• How the new pupil might be feeling?
• How could you make them feel welcome?
• What could you do to include them?

Start your scene with one pupil asking the new pupil “Is today your first day at our school?”

Keep it realistic. Focus on the small things that would make someone feel comfortable.

After a few minutes, some groups may be invited to perform their scene.
