“An uplifting message of positivity, hope, diversity, social conscience, being different, following your dreams, tolerance, entrepreneurial spirit, variety, fun, laughter, tears, dancing & friendship. This is a major force for change!”

Now that’s a review.

It’s been just over a week since our very own Gavin Oattes hit the stage. But not just any stage… Gavin took to the SSE Hydro’s stage and was joined by some incredible guests to inspire the hearts of Scotland’s young people.

More than 8,000 young people attended the first ever Fire Up Scotland on Wednesday 12th of September for a new immersive learning experience for youngsters that ignited the fire in their bellies. It was a day full of fun, laughter and with one ultimate goal: to inspire them to shape their own futures.

Described as ‘TEDx meets The Fringe’, this day-long event invited Scottish Secondary Schools to attend and take part in a once in a lifetime chance to hear how they can boost their own personal development.

“My son has gone through years not believing he was a success at school. Last night, after Fire Up Scotland, he was a different guy. He spoke for hours about the success of “people like him”! Thank you, Gavin Oattes, a difference was made yesterday, it mattered…”

Our Managing Director and Chief Fire Starter, Gavin, brought together a selection of special guests including John LoughtonColin CloudKevin QuantumCollette NorvalLucy LintottKirsten McCrossanChristian MacleodSkapade StudiosAlice ThompsonDarren ConnellErin Doogan & Gavin Bell. Gavin also welcomed entertainment from MGA Academy and Edinburgh based band, Indigo Velvet!

The day was full of amazing discussions about shaping the youth of Scotland’s future and the event also saw a world-record attempt at the World’s Biggest Magic Lesson, led by magician Kevin Quantum.

We’re still feeling extremely proud of Gavin for this achievement and of course, are delighted to be a recognised as a strategic partner for an event that focuses on inspiring young people.
